Standalone Game: All components included for a standalone duel game. One player uses the Scythe rules and components (including a new faction and player mat); the other player uses the Expedition rules and components (including a new mech, character, and companion).
Double-Sided Rubber Map: The duel takes place in a tight space on a new double-sided map—only 10 locations and 2 lakes—in a race to 4 stars on a new double-sided Triumph Track, so every turn is crucial. One side is the Scythe artstyle in a jungle setting, and the other side is an Expeditions art style in a desert setting.
Expansions: All existing Scythe factions, player mats, encounter cards, and factory cards are compatible with Duel of Meloch, as are all existing Expeditions mechs, characters, companions, and discovery cards (items, meteorites, and half of the quests). Likewise, the components in Duel of Meloch are compatible with Scythe and Expeditions.
Scythe vs. Expeditions: This is played as Scythe vs. Expeditions, but with components from Scythe or Expeditions base games, this can also be played Scythe vs. Scythe or Expeditions vs. Expeditions.
Combat Cards: This game uses a completely new set of 60 combat cards that are compatible with Scythe as well. The cards are numbered 0-7, and each number has a different when played ability. These new cards also have a discard ability as well: gain a power, gain a coin, get a worker, and refresh (move your action token in between taking a top row and bottom row action or at the end of a turn).
Triumph Track: This game is a race to be the first to put out 4 stars and claim victory. Only one star can go in each spot, so once an achievement has been claimed, it’s blocked. The double sided Triumph Track with different goals on each side provide variability and different challenges.
Meloch: The devious creature called Meloch has waited for the right moment to stretch its ethereal tendrils into reality, teleporting adventurers across space and time, leaving them to fend for their lives in a climactic final stand. The Expeditions player views the Scythe player as corruption, so in order to engage in combat with the Scythe player, the Expeditions player must use the Vanquish action. The Scythe player views the Expeditions player as competition and battles accordingly.
